I have some wonderful clothes I have to throw out this spring.
In most other cities I've lived in, there are boxes outside supermarkets for leaving clothes.
What do you do with good quality used clothes you don't need in Istanbul?

Re: Old clothes
Wed, April 15, 2009 - 10:32 PMAsk the nearest mosque if they could use the clothes to distribute. Your local beledyie may also have a place set up to drop off clothes also. I have seen those before.
If you are looking to sell-- hmm... not easy in Turkey. If your clothes are of higher end quality / name brands you could try some of those second hand stores just off of Iskital Cad? -

I can't remember where I saw this, maybe Istanbul, but anyway, the woman I was staying with in the city took some plastic bags of old clothes and sneakers to a garbage container, and the guys were already waiting there. They said:"No, don't put it inside the container, leave that to us to do it!" She was hardly gone and they were already trying on the jeans and sneakers. ; ) -

Re: Old clothes
Thu, April 16, 2009 - 1:32 PMI'm not looking for money, and a mosque is the last place I want to leave my clothes. Isn't there a Red Cross or some other kind of non-ecumenical organization for clothes?
